In the light heavyweight fight at BKFC 34 Hollywood, Jeremy “Pitbull” Smith of South Africa, wins in round 3 by KO with a powerful left hook to Leo Valdivia of Estrella, Nicaragua. In rounds 1 and 2, Smith says he was chasing Valdivia too much and his coach Billy Padden said Smith needed to focus and “cut the ring off.” At round 3, his coach said, “make it dirty…make it ugly!”
Smith says he was surprised Valdivia’s foot work was “very good,” and “he was able to punch and get out very quickly.” Smith continues, “I should have pushed the fight a bit more forward.” As to whether Smith studied the “holes” in Valdivia’s game, Smith says Valdivia “never had a boxing fight,” and Valdivia’s background is from MMA and karate.
When asked who’s next, Smith says, “I just want to stay as active as possible,” and “whoever’s next, I’m knocking out!”
